The Roost Outpost is more than just a coffee shop; it is a cherished part of our Hoboken community. It breaks our hearts to think that this local fixture could soon be gone. Located at 55 1st St, The Roost Outpost has become a beloved neighborhood gathering place where people come together to start their mornings, meet friends, work, or simply enjoy a quiet moment with an excellent cup of coffee.

Unfortunately, due to needlessly escalating rents and the landlords wanting an occupant "more in line with their real estate goals", the Roost Outpost now faces the possibility of losing its space. Hoboken has seen a troubling trend of rising commercial rents pushing out small, locally owned businesses, often leaving behind empty storefronts that diminish the vibrancy and life in our street. One just has to look up and down 1st street to see multiple other storefronts that have sat empty for years. Losing The Roost would mean losing a vibrant community meeting place and gaining another empty window. 

The solution is simple and actionable: encourage Maridian Properties to extend the lease for The Roost Outpost at 55 1st St, Hoboken, NJ. 

Small businesses are the backbone of local economies, creating two-thirds of net new jobs while driving innovation, community identity, and neighborhood stability. Supporting The Roost means supporting the character and economic health of Hoboken itself.

As members of this community, we have an opportunity to speak up for the places that make our town special. Let’s try not lose another local gem, and work together to ensure our streets remain vibrant, welcoming, and uniquely Hoboken.
