This is not a sustainable solution for the long-term vision of connecting and revitalizing our railway line.

Reviving the Keith and Dufftown Railway by extending it and reinstating steam-hauled trains would not only preserve our rich rail history but also usher in numerous socio-economic benefits. The proposal involves extending the line to the Mortlach Branch, The Strathspey Steam Railway, and reconnecting with the Main Line. By doing so, we can create a robust network that draws tourists and train enthusiasts, boosting local businesses, creating jobs, and fostering a sense of community pride.

Historically, railways have been the backbone of our region's development. According to VisitScotland, steam railways are significant tourist attractions, contributing millions to local economies. A report from the Heritage Railway Association indicates that heritage railways attract an estimated 10 million visitors annually across the UK. Extending our railway could capture a slice of this vibrant market, making our region a must-visit destination.

Moreover, reviving the line pays tribute to the engineering feats of the past, offering a living history lesson to new generations while providing practical transport solutions. It encourages environmental benefits by reducing road traffic and promoting sustainable tourism.
