  Why we need your help now
To be heard by the federal and provincial governments, we urgently need to grow our number of signatures and bring this issue to media attention.

Unfortunately, organic reach is no longer enough.

  We need funding support to run targeted online advertisements so we can:

Reach thousands of other affected pre‑construction buyers
Increase petition signatures rapidly
Get the attention of journalists, MPs, and policymakers
Even small contributions help us amplify our voice and move this forward.

 
  Important update: New tax relief — and why we are excluded
In 2025–2026, the federal and Ontario governments introduced major GST/HST relief for new‑build homes, including pre‑construction condos:

Up to $130,000 in combined GST/HST relief on new builds
Relief is based on the Agreement of Purchase and Sale (APS) signing date
Buyers who signed after March 2025 qualify
Buyers like us — who signed in 2022 but are closing now — are excluded
This creates a clear unfair outcome:

Two buyers of the same unit, closing on the same date, pay very different taxes — only because one signed earlier.
We will pay GST/HST at closing, just like newer buyers, yet we receive no relief.

Our petition asks for one fair fix:   Use the closing or occupancy date — not the APS date — to determine tax relief eligibility
