The Issue

The NohoWest Dog Park, a vital asset to North Hollywood's community, offers a sanctuary where dogs can exercise, socialize, and bond with their owners. However, many community members face challenges utilizing the park due to its limited operating hours. By extending park hours to 24/7, we can better support the diverse lifestyles of residents, enhance public safety, and promote responsible pet ownership.

North Hollywood boasts a vibrant and diverse population with varied schedules. Many residents work non-traditional hours, participate in late-night activities, or simply prefer the cooler evening climate for their dogs. Currently, limited park hours restrict accessibility for those who do not fall into a conventional 9-to-5 routine. By allowing round-the-clock access, we ensure everyone has the opportunity to benefit from this valuable community resource.

Beyond convenience, extending the park's hours can significantly enhance neighborhood safety. A well-lit, open park discourages illicit activities that might otherwise occur in dark, deserted spaces. More activity at the park means more community eyes, which contributes to a safer environment for everyone.

Additionally, 24-hour access to the park encourages responsible pet ownership. Dog owners forced to walk their pets in the street after hours may inadvertently disrupt neighbors or face potential dangers like traffic. A 24-hour dog park provides a safe, contained environment for nighttime exercise, efficiently addressing these concerns.

We urge the City of Los Angeles and local representatives of the Noho West plaza to consider the needs of the North Hollywood community by extending the hours of The Noho West Dog Park. This change will create a more inclusive, safe, and pet-friendly environment that meets the demands of our growing and diverse population.
