I am a proud owner of an XL Bully, a breed that is often misunderstood and stigmatized. To me, and many others like me, these aren't just pets - they are our family members. However, due to circumstances beyond our control such as financial struggles or unforeseen events, some of us have missed the exemption period for this breed.

The current system does not consider these hardships and it has left many responsible pet owners in a difficult position. It's important to note that according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), financial hardship is one of the leading reasons people surrender their pets. This doesn't mean they don't love or can't care for their animals; it simply means they are going through a tough time.

We propose an extension on the exemption period specifically catered towards those facing financial difficulties or other extenuating circumstances. This would prevent unnecessary separation between beloved pets and their families while also reducing strain on animal shelters.

It's time we recognize that life can be unpredictable and sometimes people need extra support to keep their furry family members with them during tough times. Please sign this petition if you believe in extending compassion towards all pet owners regardless of their current situation.
