CVS currently allows their employees only a 30-minute lunch break during each shift. While this may be more profitable for the company in the short term, studies suggest that longer breaks actually bolster productivity and overall worker satisfaction (Source: American Psychological Association). Furthermore, employees need sufficient time to rest and refuel during their workday, which includes time to eat a full meal and take a mental break. This can significantly reduce stress and burnout, benefiting both the employees and the company in the long run (Source: Harvard Business Review). For these reasons, we call on CVS to adjust their policy and extend the lunch break to 1 hour, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable work environment for its employees.
