The Issue

I am a passionate skateboarder who has been living and breathing this sport for 23 years in the heart of London. Skating has gifted me with many life lessons and I want the same for the younger generation. It's time we made a substantial change to our local skatepark.

Presently, our local skatepark is constrained, lacking the variety of structures needed for our riders to truly express their creativity. Using the remaining space by the skatepark to extend its facilities would significantly benefit our community. We propose an addition of a concrete bowl and plaza - these structures can greatly improve the skating experience and allow a more diverse range of tricks to be practiced in a safe environment.

Concrete is the preferred material for these types of structures as they provide smooth surfaces for easier rideability and are known for their durability. According to the Tony Hawk Foundation, concrete skateparks not only cost less to maintain than wooden or metal structures but they also have a lifespan of 30+ years.

By investing in this extension, we not only nurture the talents of young riders today but also create a thriving hub for future generations of skateboarders. This petition dovetails with efforts around the world to provide safe, well-designed skateparks for their communities.

In a world trying to encourage outdoor activities and physical fitness, it's time we showed some commitment to our local skateboarders. We ask for your support to transform our simple skatepark into a remarkable hub of creativity, camaraderie, and passion.

Let's lend a hand - the skateboarders of today and tomorrow need your support. Sign this petition to call for the extension and enhancement of our much-loved skatepark. Let’s make sure our future stars have more than we had growing up; let's give them a concrete canvas to etch their ambition on. Sign the petition now.
