IOWA RALLY FOR COMBAT INJURED VETS

WEDNESDAY FEB 18 • 3-5 PM

CAPITOL ROTUNDA
Hosted by Ken Croken

1427 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, IA 50311-2046, United States

PETITION UPDATE: Rally for Combat-Injured Veterans

THE DATA
Iowa veterans lose $6,624,000 annually due to VA offset. Over five years, this "Wounded Veteran Tax" costs Iowa’s combat-injured community $33,120,000.

THE LEGISLATIVE PUSH
Representative Ken Croken introduced House Resolution 105, urging the U.S. Congress to pass the Major Richard Star Act. This federal legislation allows medically retired veterans with combat-related injuries to receive both retirement pay and disability compensation in full, without the current dollar-for-dollar reduction.

THE GOAL
The gathering at the Capitol demands the passage of HR 105 and ensures Iowa’s congressional delegation hears the demand for the Major Richard Star Act. Currently, an estimated 54,000 veterans nationwide including thousands in Iowa are denied the full benefits earned through time in service.

We need photos and video! Please tag @54KVeterans and @PassTheAct in your social media post of the event.

STATUS
HR 105 was filed on February 4, 2026.
