Petition updateExpose the Senators Blocking Retirement Pay for 54,000 Combat VeteransEPSTEIN ALERT: Senator Wicker's Pattern of Votes That Hurt Vulnerable People

He blocked the Jeffrey Epstein Files Release Too! Read details below and what you can do right now to get media attention to this petition.

This petition isn't just about 54,000 wounded combat veterans. Senator Wicker has a patter of votes that hurt vulnerable people.  If this is new information to you and you want to see accountability, please continue to push this petition for signatures. We are a grass roots movement and do not have to play by the "Politically Correct" game the large Veteran Organizations such as Wounded Warrior Project, American Legion or even VFW have to play by.

YOU are the tip of the spear in accountability and public exposure.

Roger Wicker is not just a politician casting votes in Washington. In Tupelo, he is a deacon at First Baptist Church, has taught Sunday school, and sings in the choir, according to his official biography:

https://www.wicker.senate.gov/biography

He speaks often about protecting vulnerable people. But his voting record tells a different story — one that veterans across Florida and the nation cannot ignore.

Burn pits and toxic exposure
In July 2022, the Senate took a critical vote on the Honoring Our PACT Act, which expanded care for veterans exposed to burn pits. On July 27, Wicker voted “Nay” on the cloture motion to advance the bill. Veterans camped on the Capitol steps for days. Only after intense public pressure did the Senate bring the bill back, and on August 2, Wicker voted in favor of the final version.

To many veterans, the sequence was unmistakable: an initial “no,” reversed only by public outrage.

IVF and wounded families
In September 2024, the Senate considered the Right to IVF Act, designed to protect access to fertility care. Many combat-injured veterans rely on IVF due to injuries or cancer treatments. On September 17, 2024, Wicker voted “Nay” on a key cloture vote. For wounded veterans trying to build families, this decision hit hard.

Epstein records and victims seeking answers
In 2025, the Senate considered an amendment requiring the Attorney General to release federal records related to Jeffrey Epstein. The amendment was tabled — effectively killing it. Wicker voted to table the amendment and did not respond to requests for comment.

Message Body:
Dear Heather,

I wanted to personally thank you for your courage and professionalism in reporting your recent story on Senator Wicker and Senator Hyde Smith’s vote. Your work broke through a wall of silence, and many of us here in Mississippi felt like someone was finally willing to say what others would not.

I found your contact information through the petition at https://www.change.org/54KVeterans where thousands of supporters are now sharing your article because it gave them a sense of hope that real journalism still exists.

Because of reporting like yours, something powerful is now happening.

Grassroots groups of medically retired, combat injured veterans and their families are organizing across the nation, and every conversation, every comment section, and every planning call keeps leading back to one place: Mississippi and Senator Roger Wicker. His vote on this issue and his long pattern of opposing medically retired, combat wounded veterans has become the center of a national awakening.

They are mobilizing because 556 Mississippi veterans have their earned military retirement taken from them due to a little known federal rule that impacts 54000 combat wounded veterans nationwide.

To raise awareness, PassTheAct.org has begun putting up billboards across Mississippi calling for Senator Wicker to explain his votes blocking retirement pay for medically retired combat wounded veterans. These billboards are being funded directly by the veterans and families who are harmed by this policy.

Your newsroom has shown it is willing to report what others avoid. This movement needs that level of courage.

We respectfully ask if the Mississippi Free Press would consider covering this expanding national response driven by:

Combat wounded veterans
Medically retired families
Supporters of the national petition
Advocates pushing to pass the Major Richard Star Act
Petition link:

The mission is simple:
To pass the Major Richard Star Act and publicly hold Senator Wicker accountable for a long standing voting pattern that harms medically retired, combat wounded veterans.

There is a real, fast growing, entirely grassroots movement forming across the country, and all of it points back to what is happening here in Mississippi.

If you would like more information, please reach out to MajorStarAct@gmail.com for petition details and veteran contacts, and Info@PassTheAct.org for billboard locations, images, and campaign information. They will respond quickly and can connect you with veterans and families who are ready to speak on the record.

Thank you again for your reporting. You have earned the trust of many who feel ignored everywhere else.

Respectfully,
