As once said by Franklin D. Roosevelt, "There is nothing so American as our national parks. The fundamental idea behind the parks...is that the country belongs to the people, that it is in process of making for the enrichment of the lives of all of us."

Recently, with the advisement and support of Donald Trump, Republican Senator Mike Lee of Utah introduced a proposal to sell off over 2 million acres of public land over the next 5 years, and potentially over 250 million acres total.

This land is not just made of dirt and trees, or of sand and rock. These spaces are sacred, they are vital. They are home to our nation's most beautiful landscapes and most majestic wildlife. They are public lands not in the sense that the government owns them...they are public in the sense that we own them. We the people. It is our land, to hike, to hunt, to fish, to camp, to explore, to care for, to photograph, to paint, to write about, and most of all, to admire.

But Mike Lee does not care about any of this. His proposal, masquerading as a solution to housing shortages, is a thinly veiled gift to his and Trump's wealthy friends and donors. These lands, whether they be the Rocky Mountains, or the Dakota Badlands, or the Arizona deserts, belong to everyone, not to corporations or private developers.

This is more than bad policy; it's a betrayal.

Senator Lee’s actions threaten the heart of what it means to be an American. Public lands are meant to be preserved and protected, not parceled off to the highest bidder. His proposal is an affront to hunters, hikers, Native communities, environmentalists, and all who hold these lands dear.

Hold him accountable.

Sign this petition to call for the immediate expulsion of Senator Mike Lee from the Senate on the grounds of his gross negligence in representing the public interest and for threatening our natural heritage. Selling public lands is not just a political decision—it is a moral one. And when our elected officials fail to uphold their duty to protect what belongs to all of us, we must act.

Stand with us to defend our lands. Stand with us to demand accountability.

In addition, just last week, Mike Lee made a post on X, falsely insinuating that "Marxists" were behind the tragic assassination of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman. Of course, he had no evidence of this, but he didn't care. He only seeks to divide people and use a tragedy to try to score cheap political points. The divisive politics that Mike Lee perpetuates created the exact conditions that resulted in Melissa Hortman's death. They politicize a tragedy, fuel conspiracy theories, and undermine public trust during moments when unity and truth are most needed. How could anyone, in good faith and conscious, believe that this man should represent the people of this country?

We must demand better from our elected officials. Spreading misinformation in the wake of a public official’s death is not leadership—it’s reckless and dishonorable.

Sign this petition to call for the expulsion of Senator Mike Lee. Protect America’s public lands before they’re lost forever, and show the Senate that we won't stand for their divisive nonsense anymore.

Fight back.
