It is high time that Prime Minister Carney or Governor General Mary Simon—whoever holds the authority—take decisive action and send Ambassador Hoekstra packing. His presence as a representative of the United States is unwelcome following such disparaging comments.

History has shown time and again that diplomacy is rooted in mutual respect and understanding. An ambassador's role is to strengthen and honor bilateral relations, not tarnish them.
