The Issue

On behalf of tens of families who are restless to meet their loved ones:
Towards the end of 2021, the US consulate in Dubai started interviewing the first Iranian applicants for B1/B2 visas after almost 4 years of being banned from getting a US visa due to a travel ban during President Trump's administration - also known as "Muslim Ban" -  followed by two years of pandemic shutting down consulates across the world. Now after almost a year since that date, large majority of applicants are refused for "administrative processing" under section 221 (g) of the United States Immigration and National Act and have their status been put on hold. Only a handful of these cases have been cleared so far (our surveys show less than 1%), with cases being held in process for more than 8 months as of today with no clear end date, while new cases are being in the queue every day.

We also understand that this process might be out of control of individual embassies, so we want this matter to gain publicity and get to any related government officials and policymakers' attention.

It would be great if you could remind the right people of the pain we are all going through just to meet our immediate family members after several years of hardship. Many of our children have married and had children during these long years of separation, and we have been counting the days to visit them.

To put it in a nutshell, we wish to speed up the administrative processing with all our respect and appreciation for the Department of Homeland Security and all other immigration officials' flawless hard work.
