Expedite the Classification Process for Endangered Species

The Issue

We are the CARE Club, a group of dedicated high school and college students from around the world who share a deep passion for conservation, animal welfare, restoration, and environmental preservation. Our commitment to these causes has led us to recognize an urgent issue that needs immediate attention.

The current process for classifying endangered species under the Endangered Species Act is lengthy and time-consuming. This delay in classification can have detrimental effects on vulnerable species that need immediate protection. According to a study by PLoS Biology, it takes an average of 12 years for a species to be listed as endangered after it is first considered (PLoS Biology Journal). This lag time can often be too late for some species.

We urge President Biden and Vice President Harris, and those responsible for implementing the Endangered Species Act, to streamline this process. By reducing the amount of time required for review and classification, we can provide timely protection to threatened wildlife populations before they reach critical levels.

We believe our plea aligns with our shared responsibility towards preserving biodiversity on our planet. Join us in advocating this cause by signing this petition today! Let's work together in ensuring that no more species become extinct due to bureaucratic delays.
