Though I am not a frequent rider of the Newark Light Rail, I have witnessed firsthand its efficiency and cost-effectiveness. However, I've also noticed its limitations. The existing two lines, although functional, simply do not suffice to meet the transportation needs of our growing city. Expanding the light rail system holds the potential to transform Newark, improving accessibility, traffic congestion, and economic growth across the region.

Newark, with its vibrant community and bustling economy, deserves a comprehensive public transportation system that can keep pace with its residents' needs. Recent studies have shown that for every $1 invested in public transit, cities can expect to see a $5 in economic revenue. I propose an initial extension of the light rail to Watsessing Avenue station, providing a more direct and efficient route for many commuters. Following this extension, we should ambitiously plan for the development of entirely new lines.
