The current animal shelter facility in Mobile County is in dire need of funding for expansion and staffing to allow for space and time for fosters/adopters to be recruited.  The current facility is too small and inadequately designed to meet the needs of large dogs leading to high numbers being euthanized.  Green spaces are needed for necessary exercise to prevent agitated behaviors and kennel stress among the larger dogs to promote adoptability.  An additional wing needs to be built with outside access of each pin to enable dogs not to have to potty near food/water bowl and sleeping space, which is not natural behavior and causes emotional distress.  The federal laws do not allow zoo animals to be caged like this due to inhumane.  I am advocating for change through additional allotment of county tax dollars and grants to make these changes happen.  These changes will greatly increase chances of finding larger dogs fosters or adopters instead of quickly being euthanized.    Please sign this petition to help man’s best friends.
