Hi everyone, this is John with another update for this petition regarding increasing the shuttle bus service between the Richmond and Surrey Campuses.

We’re excited to share some major progress regarding the KPU Shuttle Bus Expansion initiative. What began as a student-led idea has continued to grow into a larger conversation involving students, student leadership, media attention, and KPU administration.

📈 Current Progress:
✅ 536 petition signatures on Change.org
✅ 10 completed Google Form surveys
✅ New posters have now been placed across all 4 major KPU campuses
✅ In-class presentations are now being offered for classrooms, clubs, and student groups interested in learning more about the initiative

If you would like our team to present in your classroom or student space, please message us directly through Instagram:
📱 @kpu.shuttlebus.expansion

Our presentations focus on:

Shuttle service expansion
Richmond Campus accessibility
Student transportation concerns
Alternative transportation ideas
Student advocacy and engagement

📊 We are also continuing to collect student feedback through our transportation survey to build a stronger, data-driven case for transportation improvements across KPU campuses.

One of the most important developments so far has been the growing number of conversations and institutional connections established through this initiative.

📌 Important Contacts & Developments

📰 The Runner (KPU Student Newspaper)
We have connected with Nyamat Singh, Editor-in-Chief of The Runner, regarding media coverage and interviews surrounding the shuttle expansion initiative. The Runner expressed direct interest in publishing a story about the transportation concerns students are facing.

This is significant because student media attention:

Expands awareness across the KPU community
Gives students a platform to share transportation struggles
Increases accountability and visibility around the issue
Helps transform the campaign from a petition into a broader campus conversation

The discussions highlighted concerns including overcrowded transit routes, long commute times, missed classes, stress, affordability, and accessibility challenges impacting students across campuses.

🏫 KPU Student Rights & Responsibilities Office (SRRO)
We have also established communication with Hannah Cenaiko from KPU’s Student Rights & Responsibilities Office regarding the initiative and campus outreach efforts.

These conversations evolved into discussions involving:

Nick Bransford, Divisional Business Manager of Student Affairs
Potential involvement from Timothii Ragavan, Executive Director of the KSA

KPU administration expressed interest in:

Understanding the initiative’s goals
Connecting the campaign with appropriate institutional processes
Ensuring student voices are being represented through the proper channels

This is important because it demonstrates that the initiative is now being recognized beyond posters and petitions, and is beginning to enter formal conversations within KPU administration and student leadership.

🤝 KSA & MultiPass Conversations
Meetings and discussions have also taken place with members connected to the KSA and MultiPass operations, including John O’Brian and KSA staff regarding shuttle concerns and transportation discussions.

Additional conversations with KSA MultiPass administration addressed:

Shuttle-related poster distribution
Transportation resources
Existing carpool and transit partnerships available to students

These discussions are significant because they open the door to:

Better collaboration with student services
Understanding transportation funding realities
Exploring additional transportation alternatives and partnerships
Improving communication between students and organizations already involved in transportation systems at KPU

🚍 Why This Matters

This campaign is no longer just about one shuttle route.

It is becoming a broader conversation about:

Accessibility
Equity
Student stress and commute burdens
Transportation affordability
Campus connectivity
Student quality of life

Every petition signature, survey response, repost, and conversation helps build momentum toward meaningful transportation improvements at KPU.
