Expand pickleball court access at Civic Center

Expand pickleball court access at Civic Center
The Issue
Pickleball at the Civic Center has become one of the most popular ways people stay active and connect in Yuma. Lately, the courts have gotten so busy that it’s hard for people to actually get on and play.
Most nights, all courts are full, people are waiting, and some end up leaving because there’s no space. It’s frustrating when you show up ready to play and spend more time waiting than playing. At the same time, there are nearby courts that could be used better with a few simple changes.
This isn’t a complicated fix. Small, practical updates like repairing the unused court, designating a challenge court, and allowing temporary pickleball lines on the two closest tennis courts during peak hours would immediately open up more space. These are low-cost changes that would make a real impact right away.
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and that growth is clearly showing here in Yuma. The demand is already here. The current setup just hasn’t caught up.
Improving access would reduce wait times, make better use of existing space, and allow more people to stay active and be part of this community.
If you’ve experienced the same thing or want to see the Civic Center courts work better for everyone, please sign and support this effort.
