Expand PGP Interest Pool for 2025

Expand PGP Interest Pool for 2025
The Issue
I find myself in a difficult situation. Like many others, I am unable to sponsor my parents due to the constraints of the current Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP) system used by Canadian immigration authorities. It is disheartening to see that the intake of interest forms continues to rely on the same pool of applications from 2020. Many new potential sponsors like myself are left without the opportunity to demonstrate our ability and willingness to sponsor our loved ones.
The ongoing use of the 2020 interest forms does not reflect the current realities faced by families today. Since then, circumstances have changed significantly, both globally and individually. Many families, including mine, have found themselves in better positions, financially and otherwise, to support our parents and grandparents, yet we are not given the chance to prove it due to the stagnant intake process.
The immigration system should be adaptable to the changing needs and capabilities of Canadian families. Continuing to rely on a three-year-old pool of applications excludes many who have newly become eligible and are eager to fulfill their responsibilities towards their parents or grandparents.
The solution is simple and equitable: open up the PGP interest forms for 2025 and allow more families to express their interest. This would not only provide many households like mine with the opportunity to reunite with their family members but also ensure a more current and fair selection process.
Please join me in asking the relevant authorities to take action immediately. Opening up new opportunities for sponsorship will help ensure that the system is fair, timely, and in tune with the needs of Canadian families today. Let's work together to make this change a reality. Sign this petition to urge the Canadian immigration authorities to expand the interest pool for the Parent and Grandparent Program..
