Expand NYC Public Transit Transfers

The Issue

Every day, I participate in a program in Brooklyn. To get there, I need to take a bus, transfer to a train, and then hop on another bus. Unfortunately, this routine requires paying for two separate fares, a financial burden for many daily commuters. The only alternative is to extend my already lengthy commute by 30 additional minutes, transforming it into a two-hour journey, which is not feasible for anyone.

Many residents face issues having to pay twice just to go to their destination. Costs add up pretty quick and more people will ride the subway and bus if there are more transfers.

Implementing a second transfer in NYC will not only alleviate individual financial burdens but will likely increase public transit usage, help decongest traffic, and contribute to environmental sustainability by lowering emissions. It's time we consider the needs of commuters who rely on public transportation as their primary mode of mobility.

Join me in calling upon the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and local government officials to expand the transfer system. One city, one fair fare! Let's ensure that traveling from Queens to Brooklyn, or anywhere across NYC, is accessible and affordable for everyone. Please sign this petition to help bring about this much-needed change.

I believe that we should have two transfers. This includes bus to bus to bus, bus to subway to bus, subway to bus to bus, bus to bus to subway, subway to bus to subway, and more including express busses.
