Expand MBLEX Testing Accessibility to Non-English and Non-Spanish Speakers
Expand MBLEX Testing Accessibility to Non-English and Non-Spanish Speakers
The Issue
The Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEX) is a critical step for aspiring massage therapists in the United States. However, it is currently only offered in English and Spanish, creating a significant barrier for individuals whose native languages are neither of these. According to the U.S Census Bureau, over 21% of U.S residents speak a language other than English at home (source: U.S Census Bureau). This means that potentially thousands of talented individuals are being excluded from this profession due to language barriers.
We believe that everyone should have equal opportunities to pursue their career aspirations. Therefore, we urge the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB), which administers the MBLEX exam, to expand their testing options by including more languages.
By doing so, FSMTB will not only promote diversity within the industry but also increase access to quality massage therapy services across different communities in our multicultural society.
Please sign this petition if you agree that MBLEX testing should be accessible for all aspiring massage therapists regardless of their native language.
