Expand Mayesbrook children's play area
The Issue
Mayesbrook Children's Park, located in the heart of Barking and Dagenham is a cherished spot for families and children in our community. However, as our community grows, the park's facilities are increasingly struggling to meet the demand. The existing play equipment and recreational areas, although appreciated, no longer fully accommodate the number of children and families who visit daily. With a larger, updated park, we envisage a space that not only serves more families but also provides them with enhanced play opportunities and a safer environment.
Currently, Mayesbrook Children's Park has 2 swings, 1 slide, and other play structures which often results in long waiting times and overcrowding especially during weekends and holidays. According to a recent community survey, over 75% of local residents have expressed the need for a larger park with more diverse facilities. Additionally, expanding the park could include features such as an adventure playground, a water play area and more shaded picnic spots making it a more enjoyable and comfortable place for children and their families.
Investing in our community's recreational infrastructure is crucial for promoting physical health, social interaction and overall well-being for our children. Studies have shown that access to well-designed outdoor play spaces can significantly enhance children's physical and cognitive development. Local government has the power to make this change, ensuring future generations benefit from improved community facilities.
We urge the local council of Barking and Dagenham to prioritise the expansion and upgrade of Mayesbrook Children's Park. Let us create a resilient and vibrant community playground that caters to the needs of all its residents. Please sign this petition to support the growth and enhancement of Mayesbrook Children's Park.
