When I first picked up skateboarding, I was thrilled to discover the skatepark in Glenpool, Oklahoma. However, I quickly realized that our beloved local skatepark is severely lacking in terms of size and variety. As a new skater, I find myself unable to progress because the park offers only small ramps and actual death drops, with very little in between. This has become a significant hurdle not only for me but for many other skaters in our community.

Glenpool is a growing city with a vibrant community of skaters of all ages and skill levels. A well-designed skatepark is an essential part of fostering this growth and providing a safe, exciting venue for skaters to hone their skills. Unfortunately, our current facility falls short of these needs, and many are forced to travel to other cities for more comprehensive skateparks that offer the variety needed for continual improvement.

By expanding the Glenpool skatepark, we can create an inclusive space that caters to skaters of every level, from beginners to advanced. This would not only boost the local skateboarding community but also bring in visitors from neighboring towns, thereby stimulating our local economy. The inclusion of more ramps, rails, and a greater diversity of features will ensure every skater can enjoy their time and improve their skills safely.

With the rise in popularity of skateboarding, fueled by its official inclusion in the Olympics, it's more important than ever that cities like ours invest in quality public skateparks. This investment will serve as a testament to our commitment to youth development, public health, and community engagement.
