I never set out to become a voice for community cats in Lane County; it just happened. One by one, I saw cats who needed help—cats who couldn’t help themselves—and I couldn’t turn away. Over the years, I’ve personally trapped cats, brought them for the veterinary care they needed, and witnessed firsthand how transformative Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) can be. I’ve seen frightened, vulnerable cats become healthier, and I’ve seen kittens given a chance at lives beyond the streets. Every cat matters, and every litter prevented means fewer kittens being born into a life without the care and protection they deserve.

Greenhill Humane Society has been an incredible partner in this journey. They provide TNR services for free-roaming, unowned community cats throughout Lane County. They have provided an invaluable service to our community and to the cats who have nowhere else to turn. I am incredibly grateful for everything they have done for me and for countless cats across our county.

But the need is enormous. Lane County is home to a very large population of stray and feral cats, and even with the incredible work already being done, there are still so many cats who need help.

Greenhill has shown what is possible when community members, veterinary professionals, volunteers, and animal-welfare organizations work together. Now we need additional local investment
