Shawn Rodriguez, a man wrongfully convicted and serving time for crimes he did not commit, has been in prison for more than two decades. This petition is a plea for justice; it's about setting right what's been horribly wrong.

Shawn was convicted of kidnapping - a crime that took place without his knowledge or physical presence. He was handed an unjust sentence of 7 years to life for this crime he did not commit. Moreover, Shawn was also accused of "conspiracy to commit murder" - a crime he actively worked against by undermining the plans of Anna Rugg who intended to kill her then-boyfriend, Nick. Despite Shawn’s efforts to prevent this crime and save Nick’s life, Shawn was sentenced with 25 years to life.  Nick’s later confessions of courtroom perjury, recanting his testimony, has done nothing to provide relief to Shawn; Placer County, CA has done nothing so far with these repeated recantations.

The evidence clearly shows that Shawn did not meet the criteria necessary for these convictions. Yet he continues to languish behind bars.
