Petition updateExonerate Massachusetts Witch Trial Victims with Bill H.5154Maryland 2025 Legislative Session Closes, no exoneration for Rebecca Fowler
End Witch HuntsCO, United States
Apr 8, 2025

The bill HJ 2 to exonerate Rebecca Fowler and those accused of witchcraft in colonial Maryland did not move forward this legislative session. This initial effort has sparked important conversations and raised awareness about such historical injustices in Maryland. Rebecca Fowler was an innocent woman convicted and executed for 'diabolical witchcraft' by the Maryland court - a tragic miscarriage of justice that is part of the broad witch hunting persecution that women have faced throughout our history. Her story should not be forgotten or pushed aside, but remembered and properly addressed through official exoneration.
Rebecca Fowler deserves to have her name cleared, and community leaders can use their privilege to acknowledge her in a meaningful way.

Please consider signing the petition to show support for clearing Rebecca Fowler's name next year.

Please stay active in your efforts to exonerate the Boston eight by writing your MA representatives asking for their support.
