

Today, HD.3054 An Act exonerating certain individuals accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts was filed to the Massachusetts General Court by Representative Steven Owens 29th Middlesex - Consisting of Ward 9, Ward 10 Precincts 1, 3, Ward 11 Precincts 1A, 2, and 3A, of the city of Cambridge, and Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, of the city known as the town of Watertown, in the county of Middlesex.
This Act proposes to clear the names of the eight innocent individuals convicted of witchcraft in colonial Boston. Five of these witch trial victims were executed.
A similar Resolution has been filed to the Maryland General Assembly. HJ 2 was filed by Delegate Heather Bagnall of District 33C. Exonerating those accused, tried, or convicted of witchcraft in the Province of Maryland prior to the American Revolution. This Resolution aims to exonerate seven named individuals including one woman hanged.
