Is the Chinese government watching you? Hikvision is a CCTV corporation part-owned by the Chinese government. The same cameras watching you in Exeter are being used to persecute pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong. Hikvision is also used in concentration camps in Xinjiang where the Uyghur Muslims are being tortured, sterilised and killed.

Hikvision is complicit in genocide. Exeter must not be complicit as well.

The United States has banned Hikvision CCTV and MPs in this country are debating whether to do the same.

It is vitally important for Exeter to remove these cameras: not just as a token gesture of solidarity but for the safety of foreign nationals and international students. Many Hong Kongers and Chinese people who criticise the Chinese Communist Party abroad are being persecuted when they go home. We cannot let the council put Exeter's largest minority at risk.
