The Village of Lake Placid and Town of North Elba have decided to extend the moratorium restricting the issuance of short term rental permits for up to ninety days beyond the original end date. As the public concern and proposed permit changes heavily lie in districts that are zoned for residential use, we would like to request that each board, Village of Lake Placid and Town of North Elba, respectively exempt districts zoned for commercial/business use from the extension.

Businesses, located in areas for which business is allowed to be conducted such as the Gateway Corridor, should be allowed to resume operations. The original six month moratorium, that took place during the area's peak season, had a tremendous negative impact. Prolonging the restriction in districts where regulation changes are going to be minimal or not changing at all, at this point seems unwarranted and needless. Please include an exemption and allow businesses to move forward.
