Exempt U.S. citizens over 70 from income tax
The Issue
As a proud Vietnam Veteran and former congressional candidate, driven by my unwavering belief in the ideals and potential of this great nation, I understand firsthand the sacrifices made by the citizens of America. Having dedicated two-thirds of their lives to the service and betterment of this country, our seniors deserve recognition through substantive action. It's high time we prioritize our citizens over foreign interests by granting them lasting, tangible benefits once they reach 70 years of age.
Currently, our tax system continues to burden seniors, many of whom live on fixed incomes and face escalating healthcare costs and gives away benefits to people from OTHER COUNTRIES. According to a report by the Social Security Administration, approximately 50% of married elderly Social Security beneficiaries depend on Social Security for 50% or more of their income, while 21% rely on it for 90% or more. Against this backdrop, the obligation to pay federal and state income taxes becomes an undue stress that far exceeds their financial capabilities.
Meanwhile, tax loopholes afford billionaires the luxury of reducing their tax burdens significantly. The Tax Policy Center found that the top 1% of earners in the U.S. pay an effective federal income tax rate that is lower than what the average citizen pays. This stark contrast highlights a deep inequality that demands immediate redressal.
Therefore, we urge both the Republican OR Democratic parties to IMMEDIATELY PEN new legislation that exempts American citizens who have reached the age of 70 from federal and state income taxes. This policy would be a meaningful step toward honoring the contributions of our elderly citizens.
By relieving seniors of these financial burdens, we provide them the dignity and stability they deserve in their golden years, allowing them to focus on their health, family, and the legacy they wish to leave behind.
Both Parties WANT OUR VOTES. THEN THEY SHOULD EARN OUR VOTES!
Let us come together to DEMAND this change and ensure our senior citizens are treated with the respect they have earned. Sign the petition today to make a significant difference in the lives of millions of elder Americans, who have given so much for the prosperity and security of our nation.
