This resolution was passed at the Hamilton & District Labour Council on Thursday, October 17, 2019:

Whereas Turkey has violated international law and the UN Charter by invading northeastern Syria;

And whereas the USA, which was illegally occupying that part of Syria, has withdrawn its troops almost to the Jordanian border, abandonning its illegal project of carving out of Syria a separate Kurdish state;

Realizing that the unlawful US-inspired project of regime change in Syria is doomed and that the war is finally approaching an end;

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the HDLC write to the next Global Affairs minister of Canada to suggest that Canada lift its brutal economic sanctions against the people of Syria, restore full diplomatic relations with Damascus, and help in the reconstruction of that country.

NOTE: The video in the Sana news article shows civilians in northeastern Syria celebrating the return of the Syrian Arab Army to their part of the country, following the Turkish invasion. According to Western mainstream media, the Syrian government is a brutal dictatorship. But, if so, why do Syrians celebrate every time the Syrian Arab Army liberates their cities from foreign occupation?
