In this illuminating video interview on Lee Camp's RT show, "Redacted Tonight", Max Blumenthal, editor-in-chief of the Grayzone Project, defends himself against the media attacks he endured for attending the Third International Trade Union Forum in Damascus, the very same conference that Donald Lafleur attended, in a personal capacity, on Sept. 7 and 8, 2019, in Damascus. That conference focussed on lifting the illegal Western economic sanctions on Syria and on respecting Syria's sovereignty.

In the interview, Blumenthal uses video he took while in Syria to describe the devastating effects of Western economic sanctions on the ordinary people of Syria, many of whom were turned into refugees by the sanctions, and on the difficulty that the sanctions present to the Government of Syria to prepare for reconstruction from 8+ years of war.
Brother Donald Lafleur, the Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), was also vilified in the Canadian mainstream media for attending, purely in a personal capacity, the trade union conference in Damascus. Specifically, he was attacked by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) on various national shows and by Terry Glavin at the National Post. (More on Terry Glavin in following updates...)
At an executive meeting of the CLC on Tuesday in Ottawa, Brother Lafleur was officially placed on administrative leave from his duties at the CLC. These duties include responsibilities for the environment, youth, health and safety, and the United Way.
You can help Brother Lafleur fight back against the disciplinary measure imposed on him by the CLC executive by sharing this petition with all of your friends.
