Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is proposing to close the 3 centres at Ashton, Denton, and Dukinfield.

Closing these facilities would impact upon the elderly and families with young children by forcing them to travel greater distances. It would limit the ability of Schools and Swimming Clubs to provide swimming lessons. It would also deter many people in our community from taking up this healthy form of exercise in the future.

As a Health Mentor in the NHS who's role is to encourage young people be taking up on exercise, I am appalled that the Tameside Council should be even considering closing down these facilities across the borough, especially with the growing levels of obesity and ill health that currently exist in Tameside.

I am calling upon TMBC not to close any Swimming Pools in Tameside!
