Exclude Marijuana from Federal Employee Drug Testing

The Issue

I am a retired federal law enforcement officer who medically retired due to anxiety and depression. Throughout my career, I have seen firsthand the struggles of those dealing with mental health issues and the potential benefits that marijuana can offer. However, current policies prevent federal employees from utilizing this resource due to its inclusion in drug testing.

Marijuana has been legalized for medical use in 36 states across the U.S., demonstrating its recognized therapeutic value (source: National Conference of State Legislatures). Despite this, federal employees are still barred from its use due to outdated drug testing policies.

The American Psychological Association has found that marijuana can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression (source: APA). By continuing to include marijuana in federal employee drug tests, we are denying our public servants access to a potentially beneficial form of treatment.

This petition calls for the removal of marijuana from the list of substances tested for in Federal Employee Drug Tests. This will allow those who serve our country access to all available resources when dealing with personal health issues. Please sign this petition and support our call for change.
