Please respond to the "consultation" on the Council's Strategic Environmental Assessment before the deadline this Friday 28 June 2019
Let's try and save our Borough from the Council's deeply flawed plans
THE ENTIRE BOROUGH IS UNDER THREAT FROM THE COUNCIL'S GROWTH PLANS and they do not even bother to do a STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT until their decision to approve their long term Transport Plan without an SEA has been challenged
Please tell them that this is not good enough
You can read a response that may help you consider the issues to put in your reply to the consultation at:

The "Environment and Sustainable Transport Committee" of Kingston Council approved a statutory long term Transport Strategy for the Borough on 12 February 2019. It is known as the Local Implementation Plan or LIP3. I called the LIP3 in on several grounds which you can read here: bit.ly/Call-inLIP3
Despite acknowledging the validity of my call-in, the council strangely upheld their original decision to approve the LIP3. I believe this action is highly questionable.
One of the most significant failures undermining the decision to confirm their approval of the LIP3 is that the Council did not complete a Strategic Environmental Assessment as part of the LIP3 process. This is a statutory requirement under Part Two of the Environmental Assessment for Plans and Programmes 2004 which requires a local authority to assess the likely significant effects of their plans and programmes on the environment and the likely significant effects of reasonable alternatives. Given that the Council has only prepared and is only consulting on its SEA after already approving the LIP3, this requirement appears to have been breached
What hope is their for all of our children when the people in whom we place our trust are utterly determined to implement their massive growth plans without proper resident involvement and influence and no matter what the human and environmental cost?
