

Opportunity is defined as "a time or set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something"
Sadly, the Greater London Authority (the "GLA") and local authorities of all political persuasions seized a time and set of circumstances to ride roughshod over the interests and well-being of vast numbers of people living in communities and neighbourhoods throughout London and to forge ahead with their "opportunity area" plans over vast swathes of the capital with no scrutiny and no formal process for their establishment or monitoring of the effects that they are having and have had
But have the time and the circumstances changed that make it possible for the GLA and our council to act in such an autocratic way to push through undemocratic plans?
Is this now our opportunity to stand up and say that these plans are unsound, undemocratic and that there is no evidence that the development being planned will be good for the area?
Is this our opportunity to stop these deeply flawed plans?
