Everyone Should Have Safe Shelter During Emergencies: An Indication of Change

Everyone Should Have Safe Shelter During Emergencies: An Indication of Change
The Issue
My family, like many others, has faced the struggles of relying on evacuation centers, only to find that they are not always prepared to meet peoples' basic needs. This problem leads makes an already difficult situation even more stressful to those affected. It is crucial that all evacuation establishments be accessible to all individuals, including the elderly, those with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. Additionally, it emphasizes the necessity of sufficient supplies of food, water, access to healthcare, and sanitary facilities to help individuals in need of protection during emergencies or disasters. According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC, 2020), only half of the required fund for disaster assistance are usually provided. This is why shortage happens in evacuation centers and why they lack enough resources, leaving disaster victims struggling and in distress. Many families face the same challenges, this calls attention for the urgent need for change. Effective disaster management requires well-equipped evacuation centers. It's time for governments everywhere to improve their disaster management practices and take this fundamental need into consideration. Join us in encouraging leaders around the world to require a more improved facilities at all evacuation centers worldwide by signing this petition. In times of disaster, everyone should receive a quick attentive care. We can give solution to this if all of us unite.
