More and more we the activist are fighting against a lost cause it seems. More and more we go up against what should be someone to help us save lives of the dogs and cats  only to find we are at dead ends, lost in several run around political scandals cover ups, and tell, tell stories no one wants to admit to. When it should be all about saving lives, it should be about what is best for the dogs and cats . All year last year I sat in a constant battle only to be laughed at and scorned at by the local shelter staff, the local County Judge Executive board members, and committee on any idea I brought into place to try to help the local area on saving the dogs in this area. I was going into a KILL SHELTER something I do not like doing, however it has to be done. So that the dogs and cats can get pictures and videos to get networked properly. However; while doing this, I also learned a few things. That I will be more than happy to discuss. I was called crazy dog lady. Myself and the shelter director went round and round about dogs that come in labeled as (biters), regardless if that dog really has bitten someone or not. If it is said the dog has nipped or bitten and no one comes back to get this baby. After ten day hold this dog is KILLED.. This is wrong, when a rehabilitation facility could be put into place for this to see if it was something the dog did or something the person who turned dog in did. Many times (sorry owners who no longer want their dogs, and want responsibility of the dogs will say this to get rid of dog quicker). Dogs can't even go to rescues willing to sign paperwork releasing shelter of responsibility of dog. Why? Why would a shelter staff not allow rescues whom are perfectly willing to take a dog, and release them from any responsibility not let a dog live? There was also questioning of why the dogs why the kennels were sprayed out and cleaned while dogs were still in kennel, when shelter guidelines ordinances have been set in place stating this is absolutely not supposed to happen. This says one of two things, either the kennel is not getting sanitized properly with proper cleaning materials, or if it is getting cleaning materials than the dog is getting these chemicals sprayed on them. Dogs were coming out after being in for two months thin, that was questioned, yet all the county Judge did was agree with everything shelter did. Because the euth rate had went down. While this may true, cats are still being killed at a high rate, dogs are still handled roughly, pictures are not put on website in timely manner to help network dogs. Public not allowed to help with dogs in shelter, such as walk dogs, etc. It works in other shelters. Plus dogs and cats are in same area, puppies in kennels next to big dogs not separated. Then we have dogs that run loose for months with no food and water, and are monitored and fed by people that help feed stray dogs. Yet are told, take dog to local shelter turn it in. SO dog can sit there and end up on death row. When a rescue is willing to take dog, the dog has been posted on face-book for months, been running in the cold (a blizzard at that) other people been feeding that dog, and its running mate. Both dogs running in cow fields where they could potentially end up shot, yet when one dog wanders out into dangerous intersection, an activist makes a decision to save dogs life with rescue to put dog in boarding to save it from getting hit. Then activist finds out who owner is of dog, lets owner know where dog is. Owner gives up rights of dog to rescue over phone in front of activist and will not let other dog go, but will let the one in boarder go. Then 20 days later goes to vet and says dog was stolen. Dog is given rabies, kennel cough, tested for Heart-worms, etc. and found to be HW positive. Still sitting in boarder, the man who claimed he was dogs owner has not contacted vet in over a month, never paid a dime for boarder fees. Even had someone go on go fund me account and say dog was returned to him and money for go fund me was being used for other things. Yet receipts was given to county judge execs office. No one wanting to help this dog, no one wanting to do anything. YET THE POOR DOG IS STILL SITTING IN BOARDER DYING OF HEART-WORMS, GO FUND ME ACCOUNT  SHUT DOWN BY ACTIVIST TO PROVE NO WRONG DOING GOING ON, ACTIVIST IS ONE PAYING ON ACCOUNT, NO ONE ELSE, DOG IS IN STRESS IN BOARDING LOSING HAIR... AND NO ONE CARES, NOT ONE DANG PERSON..... NOT ONE PERSON IN LAUREL WILL HELP, THE ACTIVIST HAS SENT VIDEO, EMAIL WITH INFORMATION, TO COUNTY JUDGE EXECUTIVE SO THAT THEY COULD GIVE TO COUNTY ATTORNEY, INCLUDED WERE PICTURES OF WHEN DOGS WERE FIRST SPOTTED ON ROAD, PLUS INFORMATION ABOUT ACTIVIST LIFE BEING THREATENED AS WELL AS THE ACTIVIST OWN DOGS LIFE BEING THREATENED.. YET STILL NO ONE HAS DONE ANYTHING AND IT HAS BEEN THREE MONTHS...... No one in Laurel County cares unless you have big money to throw around. Let me tell you something, it is not about the money. It is about the lives. Now I have mentioned several times there needs to be a no kill shelter and it could be possible if you involved the homeless.. My goal is to open a rescue with a homeless shelter included for people... It would be a win, win.. The people could help take care of the animals, and in the same respect earn their keep. Yet Laurel even shut down their local homeless shelter for people.. But approved a thirty million dollar jail to keep people in... It is about reform... Everyone can change from dogs and cats to people.. but it has to start somewhere. And it is going no where. As long as Republicans are all running this here, the people and fur babies are in trouble, no one cares about them. Help is needed, and everyone needs to wake up. Animal cruelty is at its highest, dogs getting dragged behind trucks, then thrown in a ditch, left to die.. (yet it was a mistake) yeah right... Dogs can be shot, and no one doing anything about it. More needs to be done... NOT TO MENTION THE DOG FIGHTING, THE CRUELTY TO HUNTING DOGS BEING ALLOWED, AND DON'T TELL ME IT DOES NOT HAPPEN I HAVE SEEN IT FIRST HAND.. HUNTERS STARVING THEIR DOGS SO THEY WILL HUNT---SHELTERS CRAMMED FULL DURING HUNTING SEASON, BECAUSE DOG DID NOT HUNT RIGHT, GOT PREGNANT, ETC... THEN LORD FORBID THE COCK FIGHTING STILL GOING ON HERE IN KY.... ANIMAL CRUELTY AT ITS WORST, YET YOU STILL SIT BACK AND CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT AND ALLOW IT.. HOMELESS PEOPLE TRYING TO FIND SOMEWHERE TO SLEEP.. BUT RAN OFF, OR PUT IN JAIL.. NOT ALL HOMELESS PEOPLE ARE ON DRUGS.... AND FOR THOSE THAT ARE... LETS GET THEM HELP, AND OFF THE STREETS... IT HAS TO START WITH THE EVERYONE WORKING TOGETHER AND NOT AGAINST EACH OTHER, IT TAKES A COMMUNITY, A STATE, SOMETIMES A WORLD TO MAKE CHANGE.. NOT ONE PERSON WHO WANTS FAME, NOT ONE COMMITTEE WHO IS TRYING TO RALLY NUMBERS, NOT ONE CONGRESSMAN WHO WANTS THE NEXT VOTE. REGARDLESS OF THE NEXT VOTE THERE, THE NEXT RALLY OF NUMBERS, THE NEXT SPOTLIGHT OF FAME. THERE IS STILL GOING TO BE FIFTY HOMELESS DOGS AND CATS IN NEED EVERY MINUTE, AND JUST AS MANY IF NOT MORE HUMANS IN NEED THIS INCLUDES CHILDREN... ARE WE GOING TO STAY A COMMUNITY THAT DOES NOT CARE, A STATE THAT DOES NOT CARE. THIS IS A STATE THAT CLAIMS CHRISTIAN STANDARDS YET. I HAVE SEEN NONE... WHERE HAVE ALL THE MORAL VALUES GONE... I WILL TELL YOU, OUT THE DOOR AND IN THE DEEP SEEDED POCKETS OF THE BANK ACCOUNTS, THINK ABOUT THAT NEXT TIME YOU PASS THE HOMELESS PERSON LAYING ON THE GROUND, OR SEE THE STRAY DOG, AND PICK UP THE PHONE TO IMMEDIATELY CALL ANIMAL CONTROL.. THE SHELTERS ARE FULL THEY STAY FULL. REPEAT OWNER SURRENDERS, OWNERS STATING DOGS BITE, DOG GETS KILLED, DOES THAT SOUND FAIR.. DOGS DON'T BITE THEIR OWNERS FOR NO REASON.. PROPER TRAINING, FEEDING DOGS, CARING FOR THEM, ETC.. DOGS CANT SPEAK, WE ARE THEIR VOICE, WHAT DID SOMEONE DO TO THAT DOG, SOMEONE TO PROPERLY EVALUATE DOGS @ SHELTER INSTEAD OF HAVING THEM THROWN IN CAGE AND LEFT AT WORD OF PERSON WHOM BROUGHT THEM IN... MORE CAN BE DONE...
