so we all know the haikyuu manga ended and we’re all obviously still emotionally devastated. although haikyuu ended perfectly in somes opinion, i think that furudate sensei should give us a special chapter. we know the possibility of a side chapter happening is low but hear me out

elementary school hinata was in a local park enjoying himself when he saw an elementary school kageyama practising volleyball by himself. kageyama seemed lonely, so hinata willingly talks to him and asks him what’s he doing. kageyama answers with ‘volleyball’ and shoyo gets all hyped up and starts asking tons of questions. tobio then asks ‘do you want me to teach you some basics?’ and hinata starts tossing the ball with kageyama. during one of the tosses hinata slips and falls to the ground and kageyama willingly lends his hands out and helps hinata get up. just when kageyama was about to ask hinata for his name, shoyos mom calls for him and asks him to return home for dinner. we then see them farewell without knowing each other’s identities. 

a whole timeskip happens and it’s before the olympics in 2021. kageyama is standing in front of his grandfathers grave and he suddenly realises hinata is the kid in his early childhood. he then also has a flashback of his grandfather telling him “when you get stronger you will definitely meet someone stronger right in front of you” which then he replies with “don’t worry grandpa, i’ve already found him”
