I Support LGBTQ+ Educators & Students in Evanston/Skokie School District 65
Why this petition matters

District 65 does not have a policy that explicitly protects employees from gender based harassment and discrimination. This is out of compliance with IL State Law and is a failure that is harmful to teachers, students, and every member of the District 65 Community.
District 65 has known that a non-binary transgender educator in Park School has been being harassed and made to feel unsafe since 2016 because of their gender identity. The harassment has taken place repeatedly and in front of students and still the administration has failed to take meaningful protective or corrective action.

We cannot have a safe, inclusive and diverse education system for all students when all educators are not safe from harassment and discrimination within the classroom and school system. If District 65 educators are not protected from harassment based on gender identity, it is not safe for District 65 youth.
Parents and community member, please joins us in insisting that District 65 take immediate action to protect all teachers, students, and employees from gender based discrimination and harassment and to promote true inclusion and safety in our school system.
By signing this petition, you attest the following:
I petition for District 65 to amend its policies and procedures in accordance with state law and take full action to prevent harassment and discrimination of LGBTQ+ employees and students. I insist that the ongoing development and implementation of policies and procedures relevant to LBGTQ+ employees and students be completed with transparency and accountability, as well as involvement and guidance from relevant experts and constituents.
