I am the proud bunny Mama of three beautiful souls of floof, Tiny, Baby Boy, and Ross recently rescued off the street in Vancouver, BC.

European Rabbits have been kept as pets since the 1800s and are the only domesticated rabbit

Below is Schedule C. Note the European rabbit is listed as wildlife in the unfettered killing spree list.

Schedule C
Schedule "C" animals can be captured or killed anywhere and at any time in BC. Schedule "C" birds may be hunted using electronic calls. You do not need a hunting license to hunt or kill the following Schedule "C" wildlife:
(a) Rana catesbeiana - American bullfrog
(b) Rana clamitans - green frog
(c) all species of the family Chelydridae - snapping turtles
(d) Didelphis virginiana - North American opossum
(e) Sylvilagus floridanus - eastern cottontail
(f) Oryctolagus cuniculus - European rabbit
(g) Myocastor coypus - nutria
(h) all species of the genus Sciurus - gray squirrels and fox squirrels
(i) Passer domesticus - house sparrow
(j) Sturnus vulgaris - European starling
(k) Columbia livia - rock dove (domestic pigeon)

You do need a hunting licence to hunt the following Schedule "C" wildlife UNLESS you are hunting them on your property or they are damaging your property:
(a) all species of the genus Corvus - crows, except Corvus corax - common raven
(b) Pica pica - black-billed magpie
(c) Molothrus ater - brown-headed cowbird and the eggs of this bird species may be destroyed.

Unfortunately, this list makes it impossible to manage dumped companion rabbits and their ensuing offspring (feral) rabbits. Our domesticated European Rabbits don't belong on your Schedule C list. They aren't wildlife, they are a genetically domesticated breed of rabbits devoid of wilderness survival skills regardless of where they are born.

We won't stand by any longer while rabbits are purposely harmed by people letting their dogs off-leash with the sole intent to harm the rabbits. Or the recent person cutting newborn babies throats and peeling the skin back to show the entrails. You have failed to protect these rabbits with your misclassification of them as companion animals and instead caused cruelty to ensue.

I held a tiny baby that died, I felt his last breath and heartbeat as his soul escaped his battered body. This baby was clipped by a car or beat over the head. My heart won't stand by and witness any more of this carnage to the European Rabbit, it is time to right a heinous wrong.

To this date, this minister elected by the people of this Province refuses to respond to any email when asked why they are on this list so I will have her answer in court.
