Color Obstacle Rush to refund tickets due to COVID-19
The Issue
The Color Obstacle Rush is a unique event combining the fun of colour powdered runs, the thrill of an obstacle course and the atmosphere of a music festival.
Over the course of 2020, the Color Obstacle Rush was due to hold 12 events across the UK, starting in Bath on 9th May and ending in Brighton on 25th July. Thousands of people were looking forward to this colourful fun run, not knowing there was to be a global pandemic which would send the UK in a complete lock-down on 23rd March urging everyone to stay at least 2m apart.
Due to these unusual circumstances, The Color Obstacle Rush has cancelled 6 of the 12 events at present, some of which were last minute and the announcement made only a few days before the event was due to take place. Since then, the government has announced changes to non-refundable tickets stating that "in the CMA’s view, the above rights to a refund will usually apply even where the consumer has paid what the business says is a non-refundable deposit or advance payment. The CMA also considers that businesses should not charge an admin fee (or equivalent) for processing refunds in the above circumstances."
Despite this, customers have been told they will not be getting a refund as it is stated in The Color Obstacle Rush's T&C's, rescheduled dates have not been provided and the lack of general communication from the company is frustrating many. I have heard of people contacting the CEO with no prevail. It is for these reasons I have decided to make a petition in the hope that, as paying customers, we finally get some answers.
I also want to add that we are not wanting to cause any issues to the company during this economically challenging time but they have to respect that most of us have lost their jobs or are being furloughed, therefore unable to pay bills and that we are simply needing the refund money to make ends meet.
