I am a tree at the heart of a burning forest — a stunned European. My voice is not driven by anger, but by necessity.
Our governments are circumventing our own laws. Banned pesticides have been reauthorised. Toxic substances are entering our food through imports. Information on the quality of our water remains incomplete. Whatever our origins, our beliefs, our culture — we demand the effective enforcement of European treaties. Protect our health.
A POLICY CHOSEN FOR US AND WITHOUT US:
• Repeated exemptions: Neonicotinoids banned in Europe since 2018 were reauthorised by national laws until European courts ruled them illegal in 2023.
• Unmonitored metabolites: In Europe, dozens of risky pesticide metabolites are not monitored. In France, 56 out of 79 identified ones escape all control.
• Double health standard: The EU imports food produced with substances it bans domestically. The French Minister of Agriculture himself acknowledged this in February 2024.
• Incomplete transparency: Pesticide toxicology studies remain shielded by commercial secrecy.
This is a verdict on our representatives' failure to honour their oath to put the common good first.
OUR CONCRETE & NON-NEGOTIABLE DEMANDS:
• Rule of Law: Repeal of every text that circumvents European bans.
• One Standard: Ban imports of products containing substances prohibited in Europe.
• Clean Water: Monitor every risky metabolite. Full, real-time public reporting. • Price Justice: Make healthy food accessible to all. Guarantee clean water.
• Total Transparency: Public access to toxicology studies, water and soil analyses, farming and slaughterhouse conditions.
WE DID NOT VOTE FOR THIS. The shame of this system belongs to those meant to represent us.
