Dear members of the Ukrainian Academy of Periodontology, dentists of Ukraine, colleagues around the world, and partners of the dental community!

It has become clear to the world that the Russian government is engaging in unprovoked, lethal aggression. On 24.02.2022, Russia commenced a full-scale invasion of the sovereign territory of Ukraine, attacking peaceful cities and their citizens. Russia has openly started war in Europe with a threat to democracies everywhere on a scale not seen since World War Two.

These actions have been taken in violation of the Budapest Treaty of December 5, 1994, when Ukraine renounced its nuclear weapons in exchange for guarantees to protect its independence, sovereignty and borders. Russia pledged to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, and to never use any kind of weapons against Ukraine!

Our international community, including professional organisations can not stand idly by while Human Rights violations happen in Ukraine.

We ask that each of you to send a letter to the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), demanding that the Russian Society of Periodontology be expelled as an associate member of the EFP if they refuse to publicly condemn the open military aggression of the Russian regime!

Your support will bring us closer to ending the War in Ukraine, a European state with democratic values.

Additionally, we urge all relevant organizations around the world to join our initiative!
