We want European states and (travel) organizations to immediately stop referring to the FYROM as 'Macedonia'. It is illegal, incorrect and grieving for millions of Europeans.

The Issue

We want European states and basically all organisations in Europe to stop referring to the FYROM as 'Macedonia'. We consider it to be illegal, incorrect and personally grieving and upsetting for millions of Europeans, as we shall attest to with this petition.

The use of this name for referring to the FYROM should be punishable since it contradicts the decision of the EU to officially refer to the FYROM as 'FYROM' until the name issue between the FYROM and Greece (may we remind the Court, a full member of the European Union) will be solved in some way. Especially grieving (and, if deemed illegal, also criminal) is the use of that name by travel agencies that in this way misinform the European population about the ethnicity of this state, because of the confusion it creates about the historical Greek Macedonia as juxtaposited with the use of the incorrect name 'Macedonia' by the FYROM. This should be stopped immediately.

The FYROM is not a member of the EU and, therefore, should not be supported in their outrageous claims to the name 'Macedonia', which is by default part of the European Greek heritage. In the picture there is a monument as photographed by petitioner in the town of Gevgelija just over the border with Greece. As you can all see, this is what the FYROM aspires to: it claims a part of Greece, and therefore it claims a part of Europe! May we remind our fellow Europeans that Greece, in contrast to the FYROM, is a legal, cultural and historical full member and inseparable part of Europe and the EU?

We ask the European Court for supporting their own citizens. If we don't make a stand, nothing's going to change. If European citizens don't support eachother in all matter concerning them, what's the use of a united Europa?
