The European Commission has the power to take decisive action NOW to help ALL farming sectors across the United Kingdom.

As a UK MEP representing Northern Ireland, and in recognition of the severe difficulties facing our agriculture industry at this time, I will be presenting this petition to the European Commissioner Phil Hogan to demonstrate the strength of public opinion for the following actions:

-To examine all possible steps at an EU level and take subsequent action which would allow all farmers to receive a fair price for their top quality, high standard produce.

- To address the disproportionate influence that large retailers have in dictating farm gate prices, and to take action to deal with a dysfunctional supply chain. Farmers are price takers not price makers! 

- To commence an urgent EU review of - and support an increase in - intervention prices for dairy products, given that dairy farmers are producing milk well below the cost of production.
