Brussels or London, is that the Question? Who will STOP the systematic removal of children?
Feb 28, 2017 — Hello, dear Supporters
We’ve been quiet not because the enemy has intimidated us, but because it’s more important to do whatever keeps our spirit up and positive. And we both have oodles of things to attend to besides fighting this uphill battle to stop child removal and forced adoptions entirely pro bono.
However, a letter arrived from Brussels – as a response to our new petition 0771/2016. It contained a paper copy of the 16-page report about the Fact Finding Visit by 8 MEPs to London in November 2015 and announces Sabine to be invited to the Working Group of the Petitions Committee:
The new petition was the result of an email to the then President of the EU Parliament to continue implementing the EU Resolution that we had achieved - despite Brexit. Here’s that email:
The Fact Finding visit was the result of 30 parents travelling to Brussels in March 2014:
But, even though the Report says the right things, children continue to be removed, as posted in this update:
Parents also continue to be asked to attend ‘final hearings’, even though NIROMP, the National Independent Reviewing Officers Managers Partnership published in 2015 that Adoption without Parental Consent is wrong in Principle.
We’ve been asked to help a lovely couple whose daughter was taken from them shortly after birth. They were refused an appeal without an ORAL hearing – just as Melissa Laird was deported to the US, even though she had a hearing scheduled!
• So, do parents have a right to an ORAL hearing before a FINAL hearing?
That’s what we need to question in London.
In Brussels we look forward to joining the Working Group. May the trend be turning after all!?...
Please keep hope and share – against all the odds! It’s really important to cry out when you hurt! It’s really necessary to let people know of your pain. For others cannot even imagine what is going on, let alone feel it...
With our best wishes for 2017,
Sabine and Belinda
