Thank you all you wonderful people for signing this petition and caring about the future of the world's seahorses. The latest response from Etsy is very disheartening and, quite frankly, astonishing. They seem to have no care that they are contributing to the extinction of these creatures and are more or less saying they will not act when we report sellers to them - "....nor are we able to take down items that are reported to us by laypersons, regardless of how well intentioned they may be. We rely on the expertise of government agencies and trusted NGOs to guide us on whether items on our site should be removed". Nobody is more qualified to advise on seahorses than The Seahorse Trust, with their years of expertise and scientific research, and who were responsible for getting seahorses protected in the UK - yet Etsy are saying they want the advice of government organisations. This is ridiculous. And, anyway, we can give them the only answer they need - selling seahorses is WRONG! What more advice do they need? Please keep reposting and sharing this petition - we have nearly 10,000 signatures now. We have to get it through to Etsy that just because they are a big corporation doesn't give them the right to allow people on their sites illegally selling seahorses and contributing to their extinction. Please email Etsy and tell them your views. Boycott them and tell them why - integrity@etsy.com. We can only assume that for Etsy money is more important than the creatures that share our planet with us. Just looking at the amount of dead animals for sale on Etsy seems to prove this. Please keep fighting for the seahorses and share this petition and the plight of seahorses far and wide. Thank you.
