Etsy have blogged about how great their new HQ building is. They say ".....we continue to strive to make decisions that are best for the long-term health of our ecosystem, which includes doing right by people and the planet. To ensure we’re holding ourselves to global best practices and standards for sustainability....." Well, this is all a bit ironic and hypocritical. How can they be interested in the ecosystem when they are prepared to contribute to an important part of the ecosystem becoming extinct, ie, seahorses? How can they talk about sustainability when they are doing nothing to contribute to the sustainability of worldwide seahorse populations? As a massive corporation they could make an influential stand and ban seahorse products, in line with their claim to be doing right by the planet. Please keep sharing the petition and asking people to sign. Big corporations can't say one thing to make themselves sound good and then do completely the opposite. Etsy 's executive board will have it on their conscience that, unless they halt the sale of seahorse products, they are partly responsible for our children's generation and future generations never knowing what a seahorse is in real life because they will all be dead and gone if demand for seahorse products carries on the way it is. Please also keep writing to Etsy politely asking them to remove seahorses from their website - integrity@etsy.com. Thank you. (Photo by Jgremillot, Wikimedia)
