Etsy, stop allowing animal cruelty on your site! Ban ALL FUR SALES.
The Issue
Etsy is an online marketplace for artists and creators. Etsy allows REAL fur products to be sold. Animals in fur farms, and trapped animals for fur suffer immensely for fashion, accessories, handbags and shoes.
Etsy allows products made out of raccoon dog fur, fox fur, bunny fur, cat fun, dog fur, ANY Type of animal skin is allowed on Etsy as of now.
This is absolutely cruel and unacceptable. We do not need to use animals and let them suffer for petty fashion and “art”. There is no such thing as an ethical for farm. There is no such thing as ethical animal trapping. There is no right way to torture animals.
Animals on for farms are kept in a tiny cages and left to lose their minds from boredom. Many times they’re forced into obesity to produce a bigger coat. During breeding animals get severely injured or die due to the anxiety levels of these animals. They pace their cages until they’re taken out and anally electrocuted and skinned. Just for someone’s Etsy products.
There is no way to ethically source even scraps from fur farms.
Trapped animals for fur suffer for days as they’re trapped by a paw in a trap. When the hunter arrives they are murdered, often by crushing of the neck to save a bullet, and skinned. Just for someone’s Etsy products.
Allowing fur products made from roadkill or animals found dead only promotes the idea that fur is OK to wear and sell. Someone buying and wearing an item made from roadkill or a found dead animal will only promote others to buy fur that is generally not sourced that way. Sellers can lie and claim their products are made ethically or made from found animals, but Etsy has no way to prove that. In order to stop millions of animals from being harmed we are asking Etsy to ban ALL fur products
Etsy has the ability to stop these products from being sold in their marketplace, effectively allowing less animals to be harmed and less of these products to be produced.
Etsy if you love animals, Stop allowing them to be killed and tortured just to be sold on your website.
