What would you do if you knew you had a limited amount of time left in this world? Would you go on a grand adventure, create something never before seen or perhaps...join over 3.3 million people to watch 2 grown men do crazy things everyday for the internet? Created by Mark Edward Fischbach (Markiplier) and Ethan Nestor (CrankGamePlays), Unus Annus is a Youtube channel created in November 2019 with the notion that Mark and Ethan would upload a video everyday of themselves, doing whatever they wanted with one catch; The channel would only last 1 year. Once the time was up, the channel along with every video they had uploaded would disappear forever.

Unus Annus (which is actually latin for “1 year”) was supposed to be a fun project for the two youtubers meant to inspire viewers that everything eventually comes to an end. Memento Mori is the channel’s slogan (which is a latin phrase meaning “remember you must die”) meant to constantly remind us as well as inspire us of that fact; People shouldn’t take their time for granted and forget that death exists for everyone, so everyone should take the chance to try something new or do that thing they’ve always wanted to do.

However...with the COVID-19 pandemic, things changed and were interrupted. Beginning in March 2020 Mark and Ethan were no longer able to do the crazy things they had initally planned, halting the hard-work of their entire Unus Annus team. From the editors, camera-people and their producer...everything they had planned until the very end was interrupted. As such the two youtubers have been following quarantine and safely social distancing while still uploading every day. As of June 2020 (when i’m making this petition) Mark and Ethan are still filming videos from home. With updates on COVID-19 being broadcast on the news and social media everyday, it seems more and more likely that Ethan and Mark will continue to be seperated until the end of Unus Annus. 

That’s where this petition comes in. Unus Annus has not delivered the absolute best content that they wanted to give us due to the pandemic, i believe they deserve the chance to give us the best and do the crazy things they had originally planned. This petition is to show Unus Annus that we (their loyal community) wish that the “d-day” be extended the amount of time lost due to the pandemic (or atleast until the end of the year). 

Just as medicine and rest can help an ailing person heal, we should treat their quarantine as a “rest” for Unus Annus THUS extending it’s life. Unus Annus has touched, inspired and changed so many lives and it deserves to be as great as it can possibly be before the end. Please sign this petition, let Mark and Ethan after seeing the support and love from their community decide for themselves and even if it doesn’t work well...life is short and atleast we tried.
